Committees
Education Committee
The Education Committee is responsible for ensuring that policies are in place to ensure the effective delivery of educational curriculums, programs and courses.
The Education Committee reviews and/or recommends changes to the following:
- Education staffing, programs, services and the corresponding budget items;
- Educational policies and additional policies requested by the Board;
- Curriculum implementation;
- Educational goal setting;
- The Superintendent's job description and goals (L-4);
- Review all policies annually under the umbrella of this committee.
Finance Committee
The Finance Committee will:
- Assists the Secretary-Treasurer with the budgetary process.
- Monitor yearly budget spending.
- Monitor non-budgetary items.
- Review of the audited statements.
- Review all policies annually under the umbrella of this committee.
Negotiations Committee
The Negotiations Committee:
- Prepares for and conducts negotiations with all parties and employee groups. The Committee operates under direction from the Board as to the Board's priorities and parameters.
- The Committee reviews all opening proposals.
- The Committee then continues to negotiate while keeping the Board updated.
- Should an agreement in-committee be reached, all Board memebrs should be notified as soon as possible.
Operations Committee
The Operations Committee will be responsible for ensuring that non-educational staffing and policies are in place to provide effective financial management, transportation services and facilities in the Division. The Operations Committee will review and/or recommend changes to the following:
- Operational Expenditures/Budgets
- Current/new policies
- Capital "D" planning
- Transportation portfolio
- Operations and Maintenance portfolio
- Secretary-Treasurer's job description and goals (L-1)
- Review all policies annually under the umbrella of this committee.

Workplace Health and Safety Committee
The main concern of the WHS Committee is to provide a means for employees and employers to work together in a reasonable and
co-operative way to identify and resolve safety and health problems in the workplace. The Committee further attempts to develop practices and procedures that will provide for health in the workplace. Development of education and training programs is also a priority of the Committee.
The general duties are:
- The receipt, consideration and disposition of concerns and complaints relative to safety and health in a workplace.
- Identification of risks to the safety and health of workers and/or other persons in the workplace
- Development and promotion of a safety program including co-operation with Safety and Health Officers and the development of the educational programs.
- Maintenance of a record of committee activities.
- Such other duties as may be specified in the Act.
